Sterilising bottles and ovens too :)

Asalamalaikum,

Quick multitasking tip

When sterilising my children's bottles, I used to use a microwave steriliser given to me very kindly as a gift when my baby boy was born. But the parts got fiddlesome and I found it difficult to store it due to its size.

Instead I went back to my mothers old school way of boiling all my three babies bottles in a cooking pot on the stove. All the bubbles and boiling water gave me the satisfaction of a better clean, I'd also occasionally put in some drops of lemon for a more squeakier clean. This method however I felt took too long and I felt it a little dangerous to pull out the bottle dripping with boiling water, to wait for it to cool took even longer.

As a quick solution If I'd only need one bottle sterilised at a time, I simply washed the bottle with a bottle brush, detergent and some hot tap water. Then I'd fill it half way with cold tap water and microwave it until it completely boiled over. The nipple was boiled whilst sitting inside the bottle and I'd place the nipple cap on a plate and pour the boiling water over the cap.

What about the excess hot water? I'd pour it out onto the stove and wipe over with a microfiber cloth. This way I could save water, effort and harsh chemicals needed to do the finishing touch of the stovetop.

I'd give a quick wipe over the stovetop while the baby's bottle is heating for his next feed.

Alhumdulilah.
